After the release of the Mi 6X and Mi MIX 2s the S series from Xiaomi is finally getting a new member. The new mid-range handset from Xiaomi is called Redmi S2 and comes with a large full-screen and is powered by a 64bit Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC. Inside the all-metal chassis are 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB onboard storage available. The mobile comes with a dual rear AI camera setup and features a triple SIM slot for two SIM cards and a microSD memory card.
The smartphone comes with a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution (1440 x 720p) and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The Redmi S2 is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset paired with 3+32GB or 4+64GB. In both cases the internal storage can be expanded through the separate TF card slot.
The camera configuration of the Redmi S2 consists of a dual camera setup on the back with 16MP + 5MP AI camera features, e.g. AI beauty and AI portrait. On the front is a 16-megapixel sensor with soft selfie light. The affordable middle class phone can be unlocked with the fingerprint sensor on the rear or with face unlock.
The Mi S1 successor comes with a built-in battery with 3,080mAh capacity charged through the microUSB port and supporting Quick Charge technology. Furthermore, the dual SIM handset supports Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, GPS, A-GPS and Glonass as well as 4G LTE. The Redmi S2 smartphone runs Android 8 Oreo with MIUI 9.
