Beside the Mi8 and Mi8 SE Xiaomi has launched the futuristic Mi8 Explorer Edition. Xiaomi's coolest-looking phone yet comes with a whopping 8GB of RAM and features a transparent glass panel on the rear and an in-display fingerprint scanner, as well as 3D facial recognition. The Explorer Edition has the same 6.21”-inch Samsung AMOLED screen and is also powered by the high-end Snapdragon 845 chipset with up to 2.8 GHz. The Mi 8 Explorer Edition offers a peek into the insides of the phone. The rear panel is made of 2.5D translucent glass. The Xiaomi Mi 8 EE features a FHD+ AMOLED display with 402 ppi and up to 600nit (HBM) brightness. A 60000:1 contrast ratio, DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR support, Eye protection mode are further features. The screen has a resolution of 2248 x 1080 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Like the Mi 8, the Mi8 Explorer Edition is driven by a 64bit Snapdragon 845 including Artificial Intelligence Engine. The chipset is flanked by 8GB of RAM and an Adreno 630 GPU with 710MHz. The Xiaomi cell phone comes with an internal storage of 128 GB.
On the rear glass panel is a dual camera located. The Xiaomi Mi8 EE has a wide-angle 12MP primary sensor, accompanied by another 12MP telephoto camera sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The camera offers features like Dual PD autofocus, 4-axis OIS and AI support. Like the Apple iPhone X, the Mi8 comes with a display notch too. The 20-megapixel front camera is located inside the notch and supports 3D facial recognition, as well as 10 different AI scene detection modes.
