Xiaomi has unveiled the new Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus with 4GB of RAM and a storage capacity of 64GB. This could be well considered as a surprise because we had actually expected the introduction of the 5.7-inch Xiaomi Mi Note 2. From the screen diagonal size, the assumption was correct because the new Mi5s Plus has a 5.7 inch display and a fantastic dual camera on the rear.
The screen of the Mi5s Plus is a Full HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The basic version comes with a memory of 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. The internal memory convinces with a very high reading speed and amounts to 64GB UFS 2.0. The housing is similar to the Mi5s and is made of brushed aluminum. The chich metalbody is also home to the powerful Snapdragon 821 from Qualcomm. The new high-end CPU has four cores and a clock speed of up to 2.4GHz. These specifications are likely to increase the heart rate of every smartphone lover and tech geek.
The camera on the back has two 13 megapixel sensors with PDAF, laser autofocus and a dual LED flash. On the front a 4MP sensor with 1.55-micrometre Ultra pixels is used. In terms of connectivity NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and the positioning systems GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS and Beidou are supported. In the 5.7-inch phone a non-removable 3.800mAh battery was installed which can be recharged in a few minutes via Quick Charge 3.0. Another difference to the Mi5s is the fingerprint scanner. The Plus version has only a 2D sensor, not a 3D ultrasonic sensor. The Fingerprint sensor is located at the back right below the two camera sensors.
