Xiaomi’s entry into the gaming phone market, the BlackShark Gaming Phone. The device’s launch follows an investment made by Xiaomi in Black Shark Technology, a Chinese gaming company that will presumably form part of the Mi ecosystem. The Shark’s black-and-green styling won’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s seen the Razer Phone. Inside, it has the appropriately high specs you’d expect: a Snapdragon 845, up to 8GB of RAM, a 1080p 18:9 display, and a 4.000mAh battery.
The Black Shark features a 5.99-inch IPS LCD screen with Full HD+ resolution (1080×2160 pixels) and 18:9 aspect ratio. The screen panel offer a peak brightness of 550 nits, a pixel density of 403ppi, and 97% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. It comes with Eye Protection Mode, MEMC smart motion technology, and image enhancement. Under the hood, the Black Shark phone comes with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with 2.8GHz Octa-Core Kryo 385 CPU and Adreno 630 GPU. The mobile platform is paired with 6GB/8GB of LP-DDR4X RAM and 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage. Speaking about its performance, the phone managed to score 279,464 points in Antutu’s benchmark tests, and that was showcased by the company at the launch event. The score is higher than any other Android smartphone that currently exists. The phone has also incorporated ‘True Liquid Cooling’, which can bring down the temperature of the phone straight by up to 8 degrees celsius. The Smartphone also has a fingerprint sensor at the front. At one side, there’s a ‘Shark’ button, pressing it will activate the high-performance gaming mode.
There’s a 12MP/20MP dual-camera at the rear with f/1.75 aperture, PDAF, and 4K video recording. The the front, there’s a 20MP camera with f/2.2 aperture. Last but not least, the phone comes packed with a 4000mAh battery with support for fast charging through the USB Type-C port. The loudspeakers are present beside the USB Type-C port. Along with the smartphone, Black Shark has also introduced a gaming controller for its phone. This gaming controller supports Bluetooth 4.0 and above. The gaming controller can only be attached to the Black Shark phone, and comes with a thumb pad for more comfortable and accurate gaming.
