After years of stagnation on the tablet market with display and thick bezels, the new Huawei MatePad Pro comes with slim bezels and a punch-hole display. Thanks to narrowing down the screen bezels, the dimensions and weight of the 10.8-inch tablet also shrunk down compared to the Huawei MediaPad M6 10.8”. In terms of processor, the MatePad Pro also received an upgrade. The Android tablet is powered by the same SoC like the Mate 30 or Mate 30 Pro smartphone. The Huawei MatePad Pro is available with up to 8GB of RAM and an expandable storage of 256GB with Huawei’s NM memory card. The MatePad Pro is available in Gray color supporting Wi-Fi and LTE including band 20 or in White color only supporting Wi-Fi, as well as in Orange and Forest Green with up to 512GB storage.
The 16:10 screen of the Huawei MatePad Pro supports a 2K QHD resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a pixel density of 280ppi with 90% screen-to-body ratio. The screen is framed by very narrow bezels of just 4.9mm. The IPS display supports DCI-P3 and up to 540nit brightness and is compatible to be used together with the Huawei M-Pencil (included when ordering Orange or Forest Green colors MRX-W19/MRX-AL19). The MatePad Pro is powered by the most powerful HiSilicon Kirin chipset. The 7nm octa-core Kirin 990 is paired with a NPU, improved AI performance, a Mali-G76 GPU and the latest generation of GPU Turbo technology making it the most powerful Huawei tablet on the market. Both, Wi-Fi and LTE version, come two variants with 6GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB and 8GB+512GB. The internal storage can be further expanded by up to 256GB.
On the rear of the Huawei MatePad Pro Android tablet is a 13-megapixel main camera with f/1.8 aperture and auto focus support. The rear camera can record videos in 4K with 30fps and has a maximum photo resolution of 4160 x 3120 pixels. The front camera for video calls or selfies has an 8-megapixel camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture and fixed focus. The front-facing camera can record videos with 1080p and 30fps or take pictures with 3264 x 2448 pixels. In addition, the front camera is used to securely unlock the Huawei MatePad Pro with face ID.
Thanks to a more energy efficient CPU the battery capacity was lowered to 7250mAh compared to a 7500mAh battery of the MediaPad M6 tablet. The Huawei MatePad Pro supports Huawei SuperCharge (40W), 15W Qi Wireless Charging and it can be used to Reverse charge your FreeBuds 3 earphones or other Qi-enabled devices with up to 7.5W. Connectivity options include dual band Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 5.1, dual 4G LTE (FDD+TD, only LTE version) , USB Type-C port, four Harman Kardon speakers and five microphones. The MatePad Pro tablet is running EMUI 10 based on Android 10 OS. Please note, that even if English language (or another language) is available, some parts of the operating system might still be displayed in Chinese language. No launcher change possible.
