The Huawei Honor Play 8A is the new budget phone with MediaTek Helio P35 and Android 9 Pie. The affordable Android phone sports a 6.09-inch waterdrop notch screen and features 3GB of RAM, up to 64GB of internal storage and a separate microSD memory card slot to expand storage by up to 512 GB. The compact Huawei Honor Play 8A packs a notched 6.09-inch TFT LCD (IPS) display with HD+ resolution (1560×720 pixels) and a pixel density of 283ppi. The Honor 8A is powered by an octa-core Helio P35 chipset with up to 2.3 GHz burst frequency. In addition, it packs 3 GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB on-board storage. Both variants can be further expanded by up to 512 GB via micro SD memory card.
On the rear of the Honor Play 8A is the main camera with 13-megapixel supporting auto focus (PDAF) and f/1.8 aperture. The selfie shooter on the front with 8-megapixel supports fixed focus and f/2.0. Furthermore, the front-facing camera is used to unlock the smartphone by Face ID.
Underneath the hood is a 3020 mAh battery which is charged by microUSB 2.0 port. Other connections include a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 with BLE. For navigation and positioning GPS, AGPS, Glonass and Beidou are supported too, as well as FM radio. The entry level phone runs Huawei’s custom EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9 Pie out of the box.
